Atlanta Falcons Add Veteran Quarterback Trevor Siemian to Strengthen Depth Ahead of Offseason Workouts

The Atlanta Falcons have officially signed veteran quarterback Trevor Siemian, adding an experienced arm to a quarterback room that already includes Michael Penix Jr. and Tua Tagovailoa as the team moves deeper into the offseason. The Falcons announced the signing on March 25, calling Siemian their second quarterback addition of the offseason and noting that he brings more than 30 career starts and 11 years of NFL experience to the room. For Atlanta, the move is about depth, competition and experience. Siemian gives the Falcons another veteran option as they build out the quarterback position ahead of offseason work in Flowery Branch and training camp later this year. General manager Ian Cunningham said earlier this month that “everybody’s coming in to compete,” and Siemian’s arrival adds another established player to that mix. (Atlanta Falcons)

Siemian, 34, entered the league as a seventh-round pick out of Northwestern in the 2015 NFL Draft and has now spent time with seven NFL organizations. His most notable stretch came with the Denver Broncos, where he started 24 games across the 2016 and 2017 seasons, going 13-11 while throwing for 5,686 yards, 30 touchdowns and 24 interceptions. Over his career, he has appeared in 40 games with 33 starts and has thrown for 7,751 yards, 44 touchdowns and 32 interceptions. (Atlanta Falcons)

His most recent NFL starts came with the New York Jets in 2023, when he went 2-1 in three starts, according to the Falcons’ announcement. Before joining Atlanta, Siemian had most recently been associated with the Tennessee Titans, including on their 2025 practice squad. (Atlanta Falcons)

The signing is likely to intensify the competition for backup and reserve roles behind Atlanta’s top quarterbacks while also giving the offense a veteran presence familiar with NFL preparation and quarterback-room responsibilities. As of now, the Falcons have not publicly announced contract terms for Siemian, and the team’s transactions page lists his signing without a same-day corresponding release or injured-reserve move.
